Inspired by actual historical events, A WIRE IN WATER explores how and why Alexander Graham Bell may have stolen a key element of the telephone patent, which has been called “the most valuable patent in history.” Bell, it turns out, was motivated not just by a passion for invention, but also by a desire to please his wealthy benefactor, Gardiner Greene Hubbard, who also happened to be the father of the woman he wanted to marry.
